Creativity is Key to Business Success

Especially in our ever changing world, we consistently need to be on top of the “game” and “thinking outside of the box” to contend with the other products and services out there. There’s no point in using the same marketing tactics as your competition either. What works for one person, doesn’t necessarily work for you.
Maybe you’ve been thinking of changing your marketing direction for a while now but you’ve been on a certain path since launching your business and now find it impossible to suddenly veer in another direction. For instance, you own a successful Real Estate business that you have never marketed. You have relied on word of mouth through friends and family. This has worked out for you for years so why would you change what you’re doing now? The truth is that the Internet offers a vast amount of opportunity you wouldn’t have otherwise found through referrals alone. Yes referrals are invaluable and businesses cannot be successful without them. But when you have a strong web presence, you are making yourself available to a market filled with people who would rather do the research themselves than rely on another person’s opinion alone. This market wants to:
- read about their potential agent;
- understand how many houses this agent has sold;
- understand the agent’s “niche” to determine if they would be a right fit;
- read a blog to gain an understanding of the agent’s personality;
- read reviews from past clients (who aren’t friends or family) to make an unbiased opinion.
Whether you’re a Real Estate Agent, Jewellery Designer or a Financial Planner, in order to maintain your clients, attract new ones and gather excellent referrals, you need ”think outside the box” when it comes to marketing and business operations. I’m not asking you to put on a song and dance, but I am telling you that it’s wise to switch your strategy around every now and then to keep clients intrigued and keep business from getting stagnant. Here are some suggestions to incorporate creativity into your marketing plan:
- If you haven’t done so, join the social networking world;
- Sponsor a local sports team;
- Create an email newsletter with content that “wows” readers;
- Donate to your favorite charity;
- Provide coupons of your services;
- Generate PR with food. Send baked goods with a press release!
- Hold a fun event for clients;
